Tips for Parents

  1. Make the most of each swimming lesson by arriving early—plan to be 10 to 15 minutes ahead of schedule. Every class provides a valuable half-hour learning experience, so don’t miss a moment!
  2. Patience is key. Progress in swimming, like many skills, doesn’t always happen steadily. Some days may bring setbacks, but over a six-week session, you’ll notice growth. Trust the process and celebrate your child’s achievements along the way.
  3. Encourage your child to reach their full potential by setting high expectations. Kids often rise to the challenges we present, and you might be surprised to see them exceed those expectations!
  4. Stay actively involved in your child’s swimming education. Learn about the skills they’re working on, create opportunities for practice (like attending family swims in winter months), and celebrate their progress. Your approval and enthusiasm are powerful motivators for your child. Additionally, keep open communication with their instructor or KIDS FIRST management. If you have questions, concerns, or suggestions, don’t hesitate to share—we’re as invested in your child’s success as you are.
  5. Commit to swimming instruction year-round. Just as a month of piano lessons wouldn’t make a master musician, swimming proficiency requires dedication and consistency. Stick with it to give your child the gift of a lifetime of swimming skills and enjoyment.
